Francis Turbine Descrition:
The Francis turbine is mostly suitable for hydropower stations with medium or high head from 10m to 300m. They are in both vertical or horizontal shaft arrangement and could be vastly selected by the hydraulic power stations.
lts feature is that the water flow enters the runner inward in a radial direction , changes direction gradually and then passes out axially. Francis turbine is characterized by reliable operation, simple construction and high efficiency, etc.
Main Structure of Francis Hydro Turbine
This hydraulic turbine type is Horizontal shaft Francis. A inlet valve is equipped in front of the spiral casing of the turbine. When viewed at the turbine from the generator end, the rotating direction of the hydraulic turbine is clockwise .The turbine is horizontal shaft and metallic spiral casing and the stainless steel runner. This unit has two bearings, assembled on the generator seat. The principal parts of the structure of turbine as follows:
1)Spiral case
2) Distributor
3) Rotating parts
4)Inlet tube
5) Draft tube
6) Layout for water,instruments and pipe-line
Water flows through penstock of the power station, Butterfly valve, expansion pipe, inlet tube, spiral case and wicket gates into the runner, and then it drives the runner to revolve and convert hydraulic energy into mechanical energy and drives the rotor of generator revolution by the force of the main shaft of turbine, thus converting the mechanical energy into electric energy.

2. Power: 0.1M - 30MW
3. Frequency: 50/ 60hz
4. Generator Output Voltage: 0.4KV, 3.3KV, 6.3KV, or 10.5KV AC three phase,
If you are interest in the Francis turbine, you should send some key parameters (such as net head, flow discharge, unit number, frequency, voltage) in inquiry.
Normally, Medium size and larger Francis turbines are most often arranged with a vertical shaft, Small Francis turbine always arranged with horizontal shaft, but it is not absolute.
Normally, we adopt the horizontal Francis turbine with capacity below 5MW. And the vertical Francis water turbine with capacity below 40MW.
