Polycrystalline Diamond PCD Insert:

PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) is a synthetic diamond product that is produced by sintering together selected diamond particles with a metal matrix, using sophisticated technology. The diamond and matrix, when sintered together under high temperatures and pressures, creates a PCD tool blank that is high in uniform hardness and is abrasive resistant in all directions. PCD Inserts is made of PCD tips( cutting from PCD blank) and a carbide substrate.

Mainly used for copper and copper alloys and gold, silver, rhodium and other precious non-ferrous metals, as well as special parts of the ultra-precision mirror processing, such as camera disk, optical plane mirror, multifaceted mirror and quadric mirror. But its crystal anisotropy, the tool price is expensive. It is mainly used for turning and processing various non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, magnesium and its alloys, hard alloy and fiber plasticized materials with strong wear resistance, metal matrix composite materials, wood and other non-metallic materials. The cutting speed, feed speed and depth of cutting depend on the workpiece material and hardness. Because there are some residual bonded metals and graphite among diamond particles, the bonded metals in the coalescence state or veined distribution will reduce the wear resistance and life of the tool. In addition, there are residual solvent metals, which are in direct contact with the diamond surface.

·PCBN has strong chemical properties and will not react with ferrous metals at high temperature.
· The red hardness of CBN can reach 1370°C, almost twice that of diamond: at 800°C, the hardness of CBN is higher than that of hard alloy, ceramics and PCD at room temperature. Therefore, the cutting speed of CBN cutting tool can be higher than carbide, ceramic tool 2-5 times, with extremely high cutting efficiency.
· The wear resistance of CBN is 5-10 times that of coated hard alloy and 3-5 times that of ceramics, with extremely high life.
